Summer Christmas

Celebrating a summer-Christmas in Cape Town, South Africa

In South Africa it is summer in December! Over here, our summer is from December – February, because we are in the southern hemisphere. Therefore, we have a summer Christmas. It may seem strange, but activities we like doing over Christmas time in Cape Town include; playing beach bats, drinking a beer in the sun, spending time with the family and chilling on the beach  …and all of this at Christmas time!

Most families like holidaying at a place where there is a beach. So, people flock to areas like the west coast, places like Blouberg and Yzerfontein, to name a few or the southeast coast, areas like Hermanus and Kleinmond, as well as the east coast also called the Garden Route. On the Garden Route there is a long list of beautiful places to visit.

The Garden Route

  • Stilbay
  • Mossel Bay
  • Knysna
  • Victoria Bay
  • Wildernes
  • Plettenberg Bay
  • Storms River

What do you think of this? Do you find it strange? Would you like to have a summer Christmas?
